SURVEY MODULE
Within the civilcad Survey module you can download and reduce data from total station or GPS data collectors, reduce manually entered data or import data from other software. You can do all your data editing, co-ordinate geometry computations, terrain modelling, volume calculations and survey plotting. This module also functions as a compiler and editor of drawings.
SURVEY DATA COLLECTION

Data entry is available via keyboard input, data collector, mouse, ASCII file, DWG file, DXF file, GENIO files and other formats. civilcad has an innovative editor of downloaded survey data, which interfaces with a user defined survey code library for applying attributes such as layer, colour, symbol style, and line style. The reduced data is graphically displayed; select a point in the graphic display and the relevant data line in the Neutral file is highlighted, and vice versa. Raw data can be edited to correct field errors and the reduction regenerated.
CO-ORDINATE GEOMETRY
civilcad utilizes various entities (points, lines, arcs, strings, polygons, text, arrows, dimensions) to build up design and facilitate final presentation of data. Standard features such as traversing, radiating and computing arcs are combined with a full range of intersection calculations, layer control, text annotation facilities, and comprehensive selection and editing capabilities. These functions allow for easy computation of areas and offsets, scaling, rotating and transforming data, and copying data for diagrams. For setting out, design data may be selected and then uploaded into your data logger.
SUBDIVISION DESIGN
Subdivision design uses minimum area computations to design the lots, saving them in the database.
The lots can be annotated and shaded for plan presentation.
TERRAIN MODELLING
civilcad creates surfaces with the fast generation of a triangular digital terrain model. The triangles are computed from selected points with elevations, and nominated breaklines are incorporated into the model to ensure the correct representation of the surface model. The triangular model can be tidied using several methods, and any incorrect deletions can be quickly reversed with the undo button!
Contours may be displayed with major and minor contour definition, or using a colour range from highest to lowest point. Multiple digital terrain models are all held within the one data file, and there is a simple merge option to replace an original area of a terrain model with the new design model.
VOLUMES
civilcad has rigorous volume computations, including solutions that are without assumptions or interpolations. Results can be computed from at least two methods ensuring an independent check on results. All earthworks are computed within specific boundaries, and all methods provide both total cut and total fill.
The option for computing volume slices between nominated contour levels is ideal for land fill and stormwater detention pond design. The fast batch method computes volumes in multiple boundaries and writes a report; this is ideal for monitoring stockpiles of material or ongoing earthworks in major construction projects.
DRAWINGS
User created title blocks are positioned at nominated scales for the creation of drawings. These drawings are linked to the survey data, enabling the drawing to be updated as changes are made to the survey or design data. Drawings can also be created which are not linked to the job data allowing further CAD work to be completed for final plan presentation.
Draft prints and final plans are simply printed or plotted to the selected printer device.
